Governor Jerry Brown recently signed a continuity of care bill (AB 369) to protect those California residents whose prior individual health policies were withdrawn from the market between December 1, 2013, and March 31, 2014 to comply with the Affordable Care Act.  The law allows patients with certain specified medical conditions, such as pregnancy or a terminal illness, to remain under treatment with their existing provider for completion of that treatment. The new law took effect on March 20.
