California last year passed legislation (A.B. 1159) providing guidelines to lawyers practicing in the cannabis industry. And Congress continued protections, in the fiscal year 2019 budget bill, that would block federal prosecutions for using medical marijuana in the 30 jurisdictions that have legalized it, Ormond said."
