A San Francisco commercial property owner sued a contractor due to a dispute about the build-out of a retail space. The case went to trial and the contractor prevailed. Not satisfied with its victory at trial, the contractor then sued the property owner for malicious prosecution.
The property owner retained new counsel, Tiffany Ng and Douglas Straus at Buchalter. Buchalter promptly filed an anti-SLAPP motion which was granted by the Court. The Court then awarded the property owner all of its legal fees in connection with the anti-SLAPP motion as the prevailing party. The client is very relieved by this result, stating “Your strong ethics and integrity made you stand out from all the attorneys I have worked with.”
