Caroline Djang moderates a panel at The Ninth Judicial Circuit Historical Society titled “The Bankruptcy Appellate Panel in the Ninth Circuit: A Historical Perspective,” on February 22, 2024.
This panel will focus on the history of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel (“BAP”) in the Ninth Circuit, looking at why (some) other Circuits don’t have one, and why BAP is so successful. The program will also look at the decision to take an appeal to the District Court vs. the BAP, with considerations for practitioners. This panel will discuss other fun facts such as how bankruptcy judges are selected for the BAP and when bankruptcy judges sit on the BAP by designation.
