Catherine Maness is Special Counsel in the Firm’s Salt Lake City office and a member of the Intellectual Property practice group. Ms. Maness’ practice focuses on Intellectual Property litigation, with an emphasis on patent and trademark litigation. In her legal practice, she has worked on a wide range of disputes and technical areas. She has litigated in diverse venues, including New York, California, Florida, Texas, Arkansas, Utah, and in front of the USPTO.

Ms. Maness has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America, Commercial Litigation, in 2024 & 2025.

  • Represented OpenSesame, Inc., a leading edge learning technology company, against an IPR petition securing a favorable final written decision from the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Ms. Maness earned her J.D. and her M.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University. She earned her B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Connecticut.
