David Wilson is an Associate in Buchalter’s San Diego office and a member of the Firm’s Litigation and White Collar & Investigations practice groups. David represents companies and individuals in complex civil litigation and government-facing matters in federal and state court as well as arbitration. His practice centers on disputes involving fraud, cybersecurity breaches and data privacy, real property and municipal enforcement actions, intellectual property, and insolvency. He has developed particular strength in law and motion practice, drafting and arguing briefings during all phases of litigation, from pleadings challenges to post-trial motions. Whether pursuing or defending his clients’ interests, David is known for pairing rigorous legal research with a practical, business-minded approach to resolving high-stakes disputes and investigations.

Before joining Buchalter, David served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Jinsook Ohta of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. A born-and-raised San Diegan, David is deeply committed to his hometown’s legal and civic community. He is an active member of the Federal Bar Association and the Jewish Bar Association, and he devotes time to professional and nonprofit service throughout the San Diego region.

  • Defended CEO of impact investment firm in criminal, civil, and regulatory litigation regarding allegations of securities fraud, commodities fraud, and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • Represented municipal government in nine-figure wildfire litigation against public utility company stemming from 2022 Mosquito Fire.
  • Represented multinational commodity manufacturer in business litigation involving breach of contract against wholesaler.
  • Counseled investment bank and sell-side M&A advisor regarding Securities Act registration requirements. Represented the same client in multi-million dollar bankruptcy fee dispute.
  • Represented international sporting equipment manufacturer in trademark and copyright litigation against former joint venture partner.
  • Represented individual securities investors in fraud action against former financial advisor and Fortune 500 investment conglomerate.
  • Defended CEO of internet marketing company in federal DOJ investigation regarding alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Counseled same client regarding compliance with Office of Foreign Asset Control and Russian sanctions.
  • Represented farm equipment manufacturer in complex RICO fraud litigation against prominent asbestos law firms for knowingly filing and prosecuting frivolous cases.
  • Represented Artificial Intelligence firm in litigation against former corporate business partner for violations of various state and federal cybersecurity statutes and business torts.
  • Defended various food and drug manufacturers in product liability litigation alleging violations of consumer protection statutes and federal Food and Drug Administration regulations.
  • Represented corporation in equity dispute brought by former executive, alleging breaches of contract, fiduciary duty, and other tortious conduct.
  • Represented home improvement manufacturer in federal DOJ civil rights investigation regarding I-9 hiring of foreign-born employees.
  • Defended multi-state real estate lender in federal False Claims Act litigation alleging the unlawful taking of PPP loan from U.S. Small Business Association.
  • Defended medical providers in qui tam civil litigation under California’s Insurance Frauds Prevention Act for alleged fraudulent COVID-19 billing procedures.
  • Represented court-appointed receiver in various receivership actions surrounding real property nuisance and municipal health and safety matters.
