J.P. Neyland is a Partner in the Firm’s Dallas office and a member of the Construction practice group.

After beginning his career doing litigation work, Mr. Neyland has shifted the focus of his practice to performing transactional work. His background in litigation gives him a unique perspective on how to proactively address and avoid potential legal issues. Mr. Neyland believes helping his clients achieve their goals and objectives is the focus of any transaction.

Mr. Neyland represents owners and general contractors in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction and design contracts and related documentation. He is experienced in a wide range of issues related to complex commercial construction projects, including ground-up construction, office buildings, tenant finish-out, education, hospitality, public works, and multifamily development.

Mr. Neyland is well-versed in the most commonly utilized construction industry form agreements, including those promulgated by the American Institute of Architects. Additionally, he has extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating documents related to project development, including various forms of leases such as office leases, industrial leases, retail leases, and ground leases.

Mr. Neyland received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M and his law degree from Baylor University, where he graduated first in his class.
