Julie-Karel Elkin is Of Counsel in the Firm’s Nashville office and a member of the Corporate practice group. Ms. Elkin has developed a niche practice designed to meet the needs of the small business community by delivering honest and practical legal counsel to privately owned businesses and the entrepreneurs who run them. She is a trusted advisor who, for many clients, functions as their outside general counsel. She draws upon the robust and multi-disciplinary practices at Buchalter to provide the full scope of services and advice a business owner needs to grow and protect their enterprises. As a former business owner herself, Ms. Elkin takes pride in building true partnerships with her clients, providing them with strategic direction, education, and solutions. Having grown up in a small business, she understands the needs of her clients. Ms. Elkin is a lawyer who thinks like a business owner.

As a frequent presenter at local business forums, she speaks to and trains frequently on legal news, contracts, litigation, compliance, privacy, cybersecurity, employment, and more. Ms. Elkin also assists healthcare professionals and practice managers in securing their office operations through management training and regulatory compliance with EEOC, HIPAA and HITECH. She assists all types of businesses in multiple industries with corporate compliance, contracting and litigation avoidance tactics.

Ms. Elkin has skills in the boardroom and the courtroom with more than 15 years of trial experience defending insureds for some of the largest insurance carriers in Tennessee as well as local businesses and individuals. She has represented members, shareholders, executives, brokers, agents, and other professionals at trial, on appeal, and in administrative proceedings.

With her broad client base, including businesses such as small manufacturers, distributors, IT providers, healthcare practitioners, franchisees, and franchisors, Ms. Elkin is a value add as she works to secure your company assets and reduce its potential liabilities. Additionally, she can provide analysis and editorial services related to AI-generated material (e.g., contracts, employee handbooks, etc.) for legal compliance, accuracy, and continuity.

Ms. Elkin handles complex corporate compliance for international companies, multi-state enterprises, and numerous local businesses.
