Leslie Goff Sanders is the Southeast Chair of the Firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group and a Partner in the Firm’s Nashville office. She assists employers in all areas of labor and employment law, with a particular focus on day-to-day counseling, litigation, trade secrets and non-competition, and executive compensation.
Ms. Sanders believes that it all starts with an understanding of the client’s business, not just the employment laws. By understanding her client’s business and goals, she can provide them with holistic advice on how to successfully navigate employee relations issues and create a productive workforce. Focusing on employment laws in a vacuum is a disservice to the client. Ms. Sanders practice is client-centric which results in practical solutions for operating the business and staying compliant with the law.
As their strategic adviser, clients turn to Ms. Sanders for assistance with their employment practices and policies and training for clients’ employees, both management and non-management. She knows that a good workforce is important to a company’s success. She uses her years of experience with clients in multiple locations and industries and the lessons learned in litigation to help clients successfully navigate employee issues and organizational structure.
Despite a well-trained human resources department and a thoughtful approach to employee issues, litigation is sometimes unavoidable. Ms. Sanders has extensive experience and a successful track record of defending companies in federal and state courts throughout the country. When employers get sued, Ms. Sanders is ready to defend them through trial and beyond if necessary.
Ms. Sanders’ executive compensation practice includes representing both companies and executives in drafting and negotiating employment agreements, equity arrangements and severance packages. Executive compensation draws on several practice areas including employment, tax and corporate transactions. Ms. Sanders has experience in all of these areas as they related to executives and helps her clients translate the legal requirements into practical solutions.
With the growing complexities of restrictive covenants and trade secrets, she and her team stay up to date on the laws in the states and prepare restrictive covenants for all levels of employees including sales teams, research and development, C-suite executives and support staff. Ms. Sanders represents companies and individuals in restrictive covenant disputes.
