Nick Dea is a member of the Labor & Employment practice group in Buchalter’s San Diego office. Mr. Dea routinely represents businesses in single-plaintiff cases involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour issues. He also has experience litigating claims for  breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, defamation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress on behalf of employers. Outside of individual lawsuits, Mr. Dea has litigated class actions and “Private Attorneys General Act” (PAGA) lawsuits that involve Labor Code and Wage Order violations, such as failure to provide meal and rest periods, unpaid overtime, failure to reimburse employees’ business expenses, and unfair business practices.

Outside of California, Mr. Dea has litigated claims with pro hac vice admissions in Nevada, Utah and Arizona.

In addition to litigation, Mr. Dea also assists employers with navigating leave laws, disability accommodations, wage and hour requirements under the FLSA and California Labor Code, mandatory trainings, and other issues outside of court that arise from employment. Mr. Dea also conducts workplace investigations and reviews employment policies and procedures for compliance with state and federal employment laws.

Mr. Dea currently serves on the Alumni Association Board of Directors for the University of San Diego School of Law.
