Rebecca is a strategist first and a trial lawyer second — though with over 20 years as a trial attorney and more than 40 matters tried to verdict or judgment, she’s earned the right to be both. As Partner and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group in San Diego, Rebecca built her reputation on an ability to see several moves ahead of opposing counsel, anticipating how a case will unfold long before it reaches the courtroom; positioning her clients to win from that vantage point. Rebecca’s starting premise is that no two cases are alike. Rather than reaching for a standard playbook, she builds a fresh strategic assessment for every matter, tailored to its specific facts, forum, and opposing counsel. That forward-thinking approach extends to Rebecca’s strategic use of technology throughout litigation. Judicial officers in both state and federal courts have routinely commented on her focus and effectiveness, particularly in her personal operation of trial presentation technology to help juries grasp complex business and real estate transactions — a tool she deploys not for show, but as part of a broader plan to assure her arguments land in a world where attention spans are shorter and jury’s reliance on audio and visual display is paramount.
Rebecca specializes in civil litigation, with deep expertise in complex commercial, business, and real estate disputes. She routinely represents clients in corporate and partnership disputes (including derivative actions), state and federal antitrust matters (price fixing, monopolization, and tying), unfair competition and trade secret misappropriation claims; real estate non-disclosure actions, state and federal fair housing and discrimination claims, commercial lease disputes, easement/boundary disputes, and commercial and residential common interest association disputes. This breadth of practice is a strategic asset in its own right: because her practice spans so many different areas of expertise, Rebecca draws on a far deeper well of experience than an attorney confined to a single, discrete, practice area. This diversity of practice allows her to apply analogies, tactics, and insights across matters that a more narrowly focused lawyer simply cannot access. Beyond her caseload, Rebecca shares that strategic mindset with the broader legal community, serving as a judge and commentator at trial advocacy seminars advocating for the practical use of technology to streamline litigation, improve presentation quality, and reduce time — and expense — at trial. A past-president of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers’ San Diego Chapter, she now serves on its Board of Governors and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
