Teresita T. Mercado is a Senior Counsel in the Firm’s Scottsdale office and a member of the Litigation practice group. Ms. Mercado has over 25 years of experience in complex commercial and civil litigation, alternative dispute resolution, business immigration and healthcare licensing proceedings.

Ms. Mercado is a seasoned litigator with experience in complex commercial litigation, class action, and business tort matters, including breach of contract, unfair competition/trade secret, non-competition/non-solicitation, real estate, HOA, condemnation/easements, consumer protection, privacy, health care, intellectual property, franchise, product liability, toxic torts, construction defect, securities regulation, shareholder derivative actions, bankruptcy adversary actions, appellate and other business disputes. She has litigated in state and federal courts nationwide, from trial through appeal, including multi-district litigation, class actions, mass actions, and consolidated matters.

Ms. Mercado’s Alternative Dispute Resolution practice includes roles as mediator, arbitrator, and attorney. She has represented clients in various forums, including AAA, ICDR, NASD, ARIAS, AIA and ICC arbitration proceedings. As a mediator, she has successfully worked with parties to resolve civil and family court matters in Maricopa County Superior Court. She has also been a court-appointed arbitrator in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Ms. Mercado has advised clients in various industries, including health care, internet/media, food/nutrition sales, educational institutions, real estate/development, banking, and religious organizations on ways to meet business needs while avoiding liability and business disputes.

Ms. Mercado has represented healthcare professionals before administrative review boards in Arizona, successfully defending clients in responding to professional licensing board complaints (Medical, Osteopathic, Physician Assistant, and Nursing).

Ms. Mercado’s immigration practice includes representing businesses and individuals through the non-immigrant and immigrant visa process. She has assisted clients in obtaining approval for non-immigrant business visas (including H, TN, O, and P) and also employment- and family-based green card petitions. She also provides guidance on immigration compliance (I-9 audits and SSA no match), student visas (OPT, OPT STEM, and I-20) and religious worker visas.
