Buchalter Continues Growth with Addition of Corporate Law Partner in Dallas

Following its significant expansion across Texas earlier this month, Buchalter is pleased to announce that Scott Murray has joined the Firm’s Dallas office as a Partner in the Corporate Practice Group and Chair of the Private Funds Practice. His arrival continues Buchalter’s significant recent growth in Texas and expands the Firm’s capabilities serving fund sponsors, investment managers, investors and other participants in the private capital market.

Murray joins Buchalter from Greenberg Traurig, LLP, as the Firm continues to build on its recently expanded footprint in Texas, which includes offices in Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth, and Houston. His addition brings further depth to the Firm’s transactional capabilities and enhances the resources available to investment funds and their participants in Texas and nationally.

“Scott’s arrival represents another significant step in the continued growth of our Texas offices,” said Adam Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “As we continue to add talented lawyers and capabilities across the state, our focus is on building full-service offices across Texas. Scott adds important dimension to that effort, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Firm.”

Murray advises fund sponsors, investment managers and investors on the formation, capitalization and operation of private investment vehicles. His practice spans a range of asset classes and strategies, including private equity and buyout funds, venture capital and growth equity, real estate, private credit and distressed debt, energy and infrastructure, secondaries and opportunistic strategies.

As Chair of the Private Funds Practice, Murray works across Buchalter’s Investment Management, Private Equity and Venture Capital, Fund Finance, Tax, ERISA, Real Estate, and other transactional practices. His experience allows him to advise clients on the legal, economic, and governance considerations involved in establishing and operating investment platforms.

“Buchalter provides the opportunity to build on a sophisticated, multidisciplinary platform at a time when the Firm is making a significant investment in Texas,” said Murray. “Private funds work increasingly requires coordination across a wide range of disciplines, and Buchalter has the depth to bring those capabilities together. I see tremendous opportunity to grow the practice here and expand what we can offer sponsors, managers and investors.”

On October 1, Buchalter announced a major expansion of its Texas presence, growing its existing Dallas office and opening new offices in Austin, Fort Worth, and Houston. The expansion, propelled by the addition of the attorneys and professional staff of Griffith Davison, established a broader platform for Buchalter in four of the state’s largest business markets. Murray’s arrival adds further depth in a practice area that complements the Firm’s expanding corporate, real estate, construction, finance and litigation capabilities in Texas.

“We welcome Scott, as he adds further capabilities and practice focus to the comprehensive business legal services we are building in Texas,” said Kimber Davison, Buchalter’s Texas Regional Managing Partner, “His extensive experience advising sponsors, managers and investors further supports the depth of counsel we provide to clients throughout the region.”
