Buchalter Continues Texas Expansion with Addition of Tax Partner in Dallas

Buchalter is pleased to announce that Brady Cox has joined the Firm’s Dallas office from Jackson Walker as a Tax Partner in the Corporate Practice Group. Cox’s arrival builds on Buchalter’s recent growth in Dallas and the opening of offices in Austin, Fort Worth, and Houston, further strengthening the Firm’s ability to serve businesses and investors throughout Texas and nationwide.

Cox advises clients on the federal income tax aspects of domestic and international business matters. His practice encompasses taxable and tax-deferred mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, corporate and partnership restructurings, equity incentive arrangements and real estate transactions.

“Brady’s arrival reflects the momentum we are building in Texas and our continued investment in adding lawyers with capabilities that support our clients across the full range of their business needs,” said Adam J. Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “Brady is an accomplished attorney whose practical, and business-oriented approach makes him an excellent fit for Buchalter. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Firm.”

Buchalter’s Texas offices now include approximately 40 attorneys across Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth, and Houston, following the Firm’s recent expansion with the addition of the lawyers and professional staff from Griffith Davison. Recent additions include Texas Regional Managing Partner Kimber Davison, Construction Litigation Chair Scott Griffith, and Partners Jason Cagle, Tyler Frankel, James Hicks, Ryan  Lione, J.P. Neyland and Brian J. O’Toole. The Firm has continued that momentum with the addition of Corporate Partner Scott Murray, who joined Buchalter in Dallas this month, further broadening the capabilities available to clients across Texas.

Cox also regularly advises corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies on the federal income tax implications of strategic business transactions and organizational changes. He works with clients and their advisors to evaluate transaction structures, address potential tax exposure and pursue business objectives in connection with mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, investments and other significant transactions.

“Brady’s experience is a natural complement to our Corporate practice,” said Jeremy Weitz, Chair of Buchalter’s Corporate Practice Group. “He adds valuable depth to our transactional tax capabilities and enhances our ability to advise clients on increasingly complex business matters in Texas and nationwide.”

His experience further includes advising on rollover equity arrangements, equity incentive structures, and corporate and partnership reorganizations. Cox also advises clients on the tax aspects of cross-border transactions, including analysis of applicable income tax treaties, helping businesses address federal income tax considerations as they pursue opportunities in domestic and international markets.

“I joined Buchalter because of the Firm’s strong national platform, collaborative culture and clear commitment to continued growth in Texas,” said Cox. “The Firm’s expanding presence in the state creates tremendous opportunities to work across practices and offices to serve clients with increasingly complex needs. I am excited to be part of that growth and to contribute to the continued development of Buchalter’s Dallas office and growth nationwide.”

In addition to his practice, Cox is active in the Dallas professional community and is a regular speaker on tax topics at CPE and CLE events.

“Brady’s arrival is another significant step in the continued growth of our Dallas office,” said Kimber Davison, Buchalter’s Texas Regional Managing Partner. “His experience broadens the support we can provide to clients in Texas, and we are excited to welcome him to our growing team.”
