Buchalter Welcomes Christopher Van Gundy as Partner in Litigation, Class Actions, and FDA Regulatory Compliance Practice Groups

Buchalter is pleased to announce that Christopher Van Gundy has joined the firm as a Partner in its Litigation, Class Actions, and FDA Regulatory Compliance practice groups, in the firm’s San Francisco office. Van Gundy brings more than 30 years of experience advising and representing companies in both complex litigation and regulatory matters involving food, dietary supplements, e‑vapor, medical device and consumer products.

Van Gundy maintains a dual practice representing companies in commercial litigation, class actions, and California Proposition 65 matters, while also advising on FDA and USDA regulatory compliance, including labeling reviews, product recalls, GRAS, nutrient content, healthy, structure/function, organic, and recyclability claims. He is one of the few attorneys to have tried false advertising food cases to a jury, experience he regularly leverages to inform litigation strategy and drive favorable resolutions. His litigation background includes extensive first‑chair responsibility in state and federal courts and arbitral tribunals involving consumer false advertising claims, Lanham Act disputes, and complex supply‑chain matters.

Van Gundy’s practice draws on his prior experience as head of litigation for an affiliated group of food companies with nationally recognized brands. He has been Chambers USA‑ranked for Food Litigation and Regulation for several years and works with clients across a wide range of product categories, including baby formula, fruit purees and juices, olive and other oils, energy bars, snack chips, seaweed, seafood, spices, bread, cheese, beverages, dietary supplements, tobacco, pet food and a variety of consumer good products. By integrating litigation and regulatory strategy, Van Gundy helps clients mitigate risk early and achieve efficient, business‑focused outcomes.
