Buchalter Welcomes Erica Opitz as Partner in Corporate Practice Group

Buchalter is pleased to announce that Erica Opitz has joined the firm as a Partner in its Corporate practice group, in the firm’s Atlanta office. With more than 15 years of experience, Opitz advises clients on a wide range of complex corporate transactions and ongoing business matters, with a focus on delivering practical, business‑oriented solutions.

“Erica is a versatile and highly respected corporate lawyer with a strong track record across M&A, finance, and growth‑stage transactions,” said Adam Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “She brings exactly the kind of judgment, deal experience, and client‑first mindset that aligns with our sophisticated and highly regarded Corporate practice groups.”

Opitz represents privately held companies across a variety of industries, including software, technology, professional services, and chemicals, advising on mergers and acquisitions, equity and asset sales, capital raises, loan and finance transactions, and commercial contracts. She frequently acts as outside general counsel to her clients, providing strategic guidance on corporate governance, securities matters, franchise agreements, and other day‑to‑day legal needs. Her transactional experience includes representing sellers and buyers in middle‑market and upper‑middle‑market deals, complex cross‑border transactions, credit facilities, and high‑value liquidity events.

“Buchalter’s Corporate group has built a national reputation for its high level of sophistication and depth that stands out in the market,” said Opitz. “The opportunity to join a strong team that consistently handles complex, high‑value transactions was a major draw for me, and I’m excited to contribute to and grow my practice at Buchalter.”

In addition to her for‑profit work, Opitz advises a range of nonprofit organizations, including 501(c)(2), 501(c)(3), and 501(c)(7) entities, on formation, governance, reorganizations, and operational matters. Buchalter’s Atlanta office opened in 2024 and has grown significantly, now including over 30 professionals across broad areas, particularly in intellectual property, complex commercial litigation, real estate and construction law. This is Buchalter’s second office in the Southeast having established a presence in Nashville in 2023.

“The addition of Erica underscores our commitment to building an outstanding team in Atlanta,” added Amanda Hyland, Office Managing Partner of Buchalter’s Atlanta office. “As we settle into our permanent space at Prominence Tower in Buckhead, we are intentionally expanding our footprint by investing in exceptional legal talent that supports our long-term growth in the market.”
