In late November, I had the pleasure of attending the MBA New Admittee Reception as a new Oregon lawyer. Following Los Angeles custom of being fashionably late, I showed up about a half hour after the
start time, expecting to be one of the first people to arrive. Unfortunately, when I finally scuttled in, the event was in full swing and the speeches about half done.
