Alissa Pleau-Fuller is a member of the Energy & Natural Resources, Litigation and Trade Secrets and Employee Mobility Practice Groups in the firm’s Sacramento office.

Ms. Pleau-Fuller offers wide-ranging experience representing franchisors, specializing in representing petroleum marketing clients, with litigation and transactional issues. She has also worked on matters involving refinery and cogeneration facilities, and environmental issues. Further, Ms. Pleau-Fuller also has experience representing both general contractors and sub-contractors in a variety of construction related claims, involving large scale multi-million dollar commercial projects, including a refinery, as well as residential projects.

She clerked at the Sacramento County’s Conflict Criminal Defenders office, and was also a judicial extern for the Sacramento County Family Law courts. Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Pleau-Fuller served as a performance auditor for the California Bureau of State Audits, where she worked on several audits of multi-million dollar programs resulting in published reports to the Legislature.

Ms. Pleau-Fuller was selected to Best Lawyers in America – Ones to Watch in 2024 & 2025.

Counseling and Transactional Matters

  • Drafted sale and purchase agreements and fuel supply agreements on behalf of petroleum clients
  • Helped advise clients regarding potential risks  regarding petroleum franchise and general franchise issues
  • Drafted notices of termination and nonrenewal for various petroleum clients


Litigation Matters

  • Represented petroleum wholesaler in consolidated case involving over 100 dealers and helped prepare case for trial
  • Represented petroleum wholesaler in multiple arbitrations involving “bona fide offer” issues
  • Represented petroleum franchisors in various fuel supply agreement disputes
  • Represented petroleum company in PMPA litigation matters, including terminations and nonrenewals, with one case affirmed at the Ninth Circuit
  • Represented large petroleum company in environmental cases involving groundwater contamination allegations
  • Represented large petroleum company in breach of contract matter involving an operating agreement as to processing facility
  • Represented large petroleum company seeking recovery of damages due to negligent chemical disposal by a contractor
  • Represented petroleum companies in various cases involving real estate issues, such as quiet title claims, easements, and sale and purchase agreements
  • Drafted successful dispositive motions for several premises liability matters
  • Represented large hotel chain in arbitration regarding franchise dispute
  • Defended various corporate clients against premises liability claims
  • Represented a private equity firm in litigation involving trade secret claims
  • Assisted on various cases involving trade secret issues

 

Ms. Pleau-Fuller earned her J.D. with distinction in 2008 from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. She received her M.B.A. in 2004 from California State University, Sacramento, and her B.A. degree from University of California, Davis in 2000.
