
Michael Fillingame is a member of Buchalter’s Corporate and Real Estate Practice Groups, and a Senior Counsel in the Firm’s Portland Office. Mr. Fillingame represents public and private companies in a broad range of complex corporate transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investments and corporate governance. He also has substantial experience representing clients in a wide range of real estate transactions, including the acquisition, development, financing, leasing and disposition of real estate.
Mr. Fillingame was selected to Best Lawyers in America – Ones to Watch in 2024-2025. He was also selected to the 2024 Oregon Rising Stars list.

Mr. Fillingame earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, where he was Executive Editor of the Houston Law Review and an American Arbitration Association Research Scholar. He received his M.A. from Johns Hopkins University, and his B.S. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Oregon.
During law school, Mr. Fillingame served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Frances H. Stacy and the Honorable George C. Hanks, Jr. in the United States Court for the Southern District of Texas. He was also a Teaching Assistant in Business Law & Ethics within the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston.
Before entering law school, Michael spent two years in Baltimore, Maryland as a 6th grade elementary school teacher in the Teach for America program, and one year teaching 9th grade algebra in a Houston public charter school whose mission is to help low-income Houstonians prepare for and graduate from college.
