Joshua Robbins, Speaker at the American Bar Association’s 2025 National Legal Malpractice Conference

Joshua Robbins will speak on the topic titled ““The First Thing We Do, Let’s Kill All the Lawyers” — Protecting the Profession – Lawyers, the Constitution, and the Perils at Play,” at the American Bar Association’s 2025 National Legal Malpractice Conference on September 11, 2025.

Lawyers and Law Firms have always played a foundational and enduring role in the American constitutional republic. The profession has acted as the primary guardian of the rule of law, defended against arbitrary power, protected its cherished role as advocates, and maintained its independence. Yet, 2025 has seen unprecedented efforts to erode those principles. Executive Orders and other actions have tested the professions’ independence, resilience, and mettle. The profession, and now the Courts, has intervened to defeat those initiatives – so far. But the challenges remain.

Join us in listening to a panel of speakers about this dynamic, the status of the executive initiatives, and the constitutional and other protections at play. Learn about historic roles the profession has played in the judicial system and its indispensability to a balanced and free society. Given the Committee’s mission in safeguarding and sustaining the profession, there’s no better place to listen and learn.
