Berit Elam is a Senior Counsel in Buchalter’s Sacramento office. She is a member of Buchalter’s Litigation, Health Care, Real Estate, and Trade Secretes, Employee Mobility & Restrictive Covenants Practice Groups. Berit brings extensive experience across a broad range of industries to her practice.
Berit’s litigation practice involves representation of clients in a wide variety of commercial and business litigation matters, including breaches of contract, fraud, unfair competition actions, and business tort cases.
In her health care litigation practice, Berit represents health systems, physician groups, and other health care clients in large-scale reimbursement litigations and arbitrations, recovering millions of dollars on behalf of health care providers.
Berit also has extensive experience representing individuals and businesses in various trade secret matters, including those involving misappropriation of trade secrets, employee mobility disputes, unfair competition, and employee non-solicitation covenants and non-disclosure agreements.
Berit has a significant background in construction litigation where she represents general and sub-contractor clients, as well as owners, in matters arising from public and private projects involving civil, transportation, and commercial construction.
Berit’s practice includes political law, where she represents clients in reporting and regulatory matters around campaign finance and lobbying, as well as election law.
In addition to her civil litigation practice, Berit has considerable experience with white collar criminal defense, having represented many individuals facing government investigations and criminal allegations ranging from mail and wire fraud to perjury and bribery.
