Daniel Katz is a Partner in the Firm’s Los Angeles office and a member of the Real Estate practice group. Mr. Katz advises clients on a wide range of commercial real estate transactions across asset classes and geographies.
His practice includes representing real estate funds, institutional and non-institutional real estate investors, developers, operators and financial institutions in a variety of sophisticated matters including programmatic and single-asset joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions and financings. He also has significant experience working with lending institutions in connection with complex real estate financings (including both mortgage and mezzanine loans) related to the acquisition, construction or refinancing of commercial properties throughout the U.S. Additionally, he has extensive experience representing mortgage lending clients in connection with warehouse lines of credit and loan portfolio purchase and sale transactions.
Before joining Buchalter, he was a member of the real estate department in a global law firm’s Los Angeles office. Prior to private practice, he served as Associate General Counsel at Wedgewood, an operating company focused on strategic opportunities in real estate and loans assets. At Wedgewood, he led the real estate transactions team and helped to drive operational, investor matters and compliance. Mr. Katz helped strategically guide transactions for the organization including the successful acquisition by Pacific Western Bank of Civic Financial Services, a private lender with more than $6 billion of originations specializing in small balance business purpose loans backed by residential and multifamily properties.
