James Andrew Caprile is a Shareholder in the Sacramento office of Buchalter, and a member of the Firm’s Health Care Practice Group. Mr. Caprile has over three decades of experience representing clients in the healthcare sector on a wide range of issues including business transactions, whole hospital and ambulatory surgical center syndications, and the formation, sale and merger of medical practices and management service organizations (MSOs).  Mr. Caprile has extensive experience in negotiating physician/hospital contracting as well as contracts between medical groups and medical foundations.

Mr. Caprile focuses his regulatory practice on analyzing health care facility and professional licensing statues and requirements (including the corporate practice of medicine) as well as fee-splitting, self-referral and rebate prohibitions (including Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse, the Stark law and federal and state anti-referral prohibitions).

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Caprile practiced as an accountant, focusing primarily on tax accounting, and successfully passed the California CPA exam.

Mr. Caprile has been recognized as one of Sacramento Magazine’s Top Lawyer in the area of Health Care Law since 2021.
