Roy Hadley is Of Counsel in the Firm’s Atlanta office and a member of the Corporate practice group, and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Artificial Intelligence industry group. For over three decades, Mr. Hadley has been a trusted advisor to a diverse clientele, including high-growth businesses, governmental entities, and technology-focused companies. His practice focuses on assisting clients with navigating complex corporate matters, including governance and compliance issues, technology transactions, general corporate counseling, and advising in leading-edge areas such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Mr. Hadley regularly counsels clients in negotiating and documenting intellectual property and information technology licensing and procurement agreements, transitional services and licensing agreements, hosting and cloud services agreements, consulting services and implementation agreements, collaboration agreements, and joint technology development arrangements.

His rich professional background spans various executive roles, including vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary for a publicly traded wireless communications company, as well as vice president, general counsel, and chief privacy officer for an international travel services and technology corporation. He also has deep experience in advising corporate and governmental leaders, as well as boards and board committees. In particular, works closely with boards and executives on AI and cybersecurity governance and risk management.

Mr. Hadley has held positions such as special counsel to the president of the American Bar Association, special assistant attorney general for the State of Georgia, and currently serves as Special Counsel to the Commonwealth of Virginia for Cybersecurity. He was also recognized by the Georgia State House of Representatives for his work in cybersecurity in support of the public sector.

He currently serves on the Georgia State Bar AI and Emerging Technologies Standing Committee, the Technology Association of Georgia Board of Directors, the Policy Board for the National Technology Security Coalition, and the Atlanta CIO Advisory Council.

As a frequent speaker, lecturer, and author, Mr. Hadley has been featured in WSJ.com, USAToday.com, FOXNews.com, Compliance Week, Healthcare Risk Management, Inside Counsel, Homeland Security Today, National Law Review, Sports Page Weekly, Law 360, and many other publications. He has also appeared on Georgia Public Broadcasting, TAG Radio, WXIA-TV (Tech Edge), and WUPA-TV (Focus Atlanta), and on numerous technology-focused podcasts.
