Buchalter Welcomes Brad Markoff and Mark Levinson to Los Angeles Office

Buchalter is pleased to announce that Brad Markoff and William “Mark” Levinson have joined the firm as Corporate Shareholders in its Los Angeles office. A former Shareholder at the firm, Levinson is returning to Buchalter after nearly 30 years. Markoff will serve as Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Capital Markets practice.

“Brad and Mark bring deep experience guiding clients through complex financial and transactional matters,” said Adam Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “We are thrilled to welcome them and the valuable expertise they add to our team.”

Markoff focuses his practice on capital markets and complex financing transactions. He represents private and public companies, partnerships, and funds in a variety of U.S. domestic and Asia-based cross-border transactions, including capital raising in private offerings and IPOs, secondary offerings of debt and equity, mergers and acquisitions, roll-up transactions, and real estate portfolio acquisitions and dispositions. He also advises on strategic investments across industries such as real estate, hospitality, financial services, technology, entertainment, and media. With extensive experience in Asia-related transactions, he has worked with governments around the globe to develop innovative financing structures and legislative initiatives, and is a frequent author and speaker on topics related to cross-border finance, REITs, and mergers and acquisitions.

“I’m delighted to join Buchalter and Chair the firm’s Real Estate Capital Markets group,” said Markoff. “Buchalter’s national platform and its impressive reputation in both the real estate and financial sectors will enhance my practice and help me better serve my clients.”

Levinson returns to Buchalter with more than four decades of experience advising clients on corporate, real estate, capital markets, securities, and municipal finance matters. He represents public and private companies, private equity sponsors, financial institutions, developers, syndicators, and governmental entities in transactions ranging from mergers and acquisitions and REIT structuring to real estate syndications and distressed asset workouts. Levinson also has extensive experience in public and structured finance, having served as counsel to issuers, underwriters, borrowers, lenders, and trustees in billions of dollars’ worth of financings. His practice spans a wide variety of industries, including real estate, consumer products, education, manufacturing, media, and technology.

“Rejoining Buchalter is a natural next step for me,” said Levinson. “It gives me the chance to continue advising clients on select matters while also contributing to the firm’s long-term growth and mentoring the next generation of attorneys.”

“Brad and Mark exemplify the sophisticated financial and transactional work our clients rely on,” added Bass. “They are outstanding additions to the firm and to the services we provide nationwide.”
