Buchalter is pleased to announce that J. Wallace Irvin has joined the firm as Partner in its Nashville office as a member of the Litigation Practice Group. Irvin represents contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and surveyors in a broad range of construction-related matters, including contract negotiations, project administration, construction defect claims, and lien and bond disputes.
“We are delighted to welcome Wally to Buchalter,” said Adam Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “Our clients rely on Buchalter’s deep bench of construction and litigation attorneys to navigate complex legal challenges. Wally’s industry leadership adds further depth to those capabilities as we continue to strengthen our presence in Nashville.”
Since opening the office in 2022, Buchalter’s Nashville location has rapidly grown to over 45 lawyers and professional staff.
In addition to advising clients on business and contract matters, Irvin represents clients in administrative proceedings before the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health administration (TOSHA), the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners, and the Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors. He also serves as a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator.
“I am excited to join Buchalter and work alongside such a talented team,” said Irvin. “The Firm’s national platform and commitment to exceptional client service makes it an ideal platform to continue serving my clients in the construction industry while expanding the resources and capabilities available to them at a full-service firm.”
Irvin has achieved significant results for clients in construction disputes, including prevailing complex Prompt Pay Act Litigation, defending owners against mechanics’ lien and payment bond claims, securing dismissal of construction defect actions, and obtaining substantial judgements in mechanic’s lien matters. Beyond his practice, he is a recognized thought leader in construction law, contributing to several leading industry publications and frequently speaking before trade organizations and professional groups. He also participated in the construction industry coalition that helped enact amendments to Tennessee’s Construction Statutes in 2020, strengthening protections for contractors and design professionals.
Irvin has been recognized by Chambers & Partners for Construction and The Best Lawyers in America for commercial Litigation, and Construction Law. He is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation. He remains active in numerous legal and construction organizations throughout Tennessee and the Southeast.
“Wally is a highly respected construction attorney whose experience and practical approach to client service make him an exceptional addition to our Litigation Practice Group and the Nashville office,” added Jason Brooks, Buchalter’s Nashville Office Managing Parter.
