Daniel H. Slate will speak at the 45th Annual Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute seminar in Atlanta March 21- 23. He will speak on “Claims Trading – Buyers, Sellers, and Debtors Beware!!” Friday, March 22.
The panel will explore recent and significant case developments addressing claims trading, including: (i) risks associated with claims trading; (ii) limitations on the assignability of claims and/or the right to vote an assigned claim; (iii) potential claim designation; (iv) “bad faith” associated with purchasing claims to support/reject a plan; and (iv) the “proper” classification/designation of claims purchased by/from insiders.
