While cannabis industry has become legal in many states, the federal marijuana ban largely precludes bankruptcy relief for companies operating in the industry. Cannabis companies in financial or operating distress have to resort to out-of-court restructuring options, including with a state court- or privately-appointed receiver, an assignment for the benefit of creditors or a consensual informal restructuring. The panel of experts will examine pros and cons of various restructuring options for Cannabis business as well as the evolving landscape at the intersection of Cannabis and bankruptcy.
