Roger Scott is a Partner in the Firm’s Orange County Office.  Roger’s specialty in labor and employment has led him to develop expertise in various areas of litigation that frequently intersect with employment disputes.  As a result, Roger handles a wide range of civil litigation in both federal and state courts and in arbitration including labor and employment matters, trade secret theft, business litigation, patent disputes, and class action defense.  He has represented clients at trial in federal and state courts as well as arguing before the Ninth Circuit and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals as well as the California Court of Appeal.

An integral part of Roger’s practice is advising clients on pre-litigation dispute resolution and litigation avoidance.  Roger routinely advises clients on labor and employment issues including leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, harassment and discrimination, and transactional due diligence.  He also advises clients on contract interpretation and related issues to resolve disputes without litigation.

Roger represents clients in a wide range of industries including commercial manufacturing, aerospace, medical staffing, medical technology, consumer products, and cannabis.  He enjoys learning the details about an individual client’s business and tailoring employment policies, and litigation strategies specifically to their needs.

  • Obtained complete defense jury verdict for family-owned adult day health care facility in whistleblower retaliation lawsuit alleging wrongful termination for reporting purported legal violations and discrimination.
  • Obtained complete defense jury verdict for multinational water attraction manufacturer in $200 million federal antitrust and RICO lawsuit; named by the Daily Journalas one of California’s Top Defense Verdicts of the year.
  • Obtained complete defense award and complete award on counterclaims (with attorney fees) in international arbitration involving cross-border biotech licensing agreement.
  • Obtained plaintiff’s verdict in federal bench trial in favor of multinational water attraction manufacturer against employee who attempted to compete using patents obtained from company technology.
  • Defended publicly traded cannabis company in multi-year litigation breach of contract litigation brought by industry competitor.
  • Defended aerospace seals manufacturer in trade secrets litigation brought by major international competitor.
