Overview

|

As a Shareholder in the Firm’s Los Angeles office and a member of the Corporate Practice Group, Mark brings more than 43 years of corporate deal-making, real estate, capital markets and securities  experience—and a knack for turning complexity into clarity. He doesn’t just provide legal advice; he becomes a trusted ally to company leadership, helping clients steer through challenges with confidence, insight, and, when the moment calls for it, a bit of grit.

Whether the deal involves modest sums or moves the needle by billions, Mark’s approach stays the same: tailor-made strategy built on real human connection. His clients don’t get boilerplate—they get bespoke. And while many lawyers might lead with paperwork, Mark leads with people. His first move in any transaction? Open, honest, strategic communication—whether it’s with the client or across the negotiation table.

Mark’s deal sheet spans mergers and acquisitions, corporate spin-offs, real estate (hospitality, syndications, funds, tenant-in-common, development—you name it), securities offerings and compliance, capital markets, finance, and municipal finance. He’s worn a lot of hats—bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, developer’s counsel, trustee’s counsel—and all of them well. If it’s a tough deal, Mark’s the one you want in the room.

His north star? Results. Efficient. Cost-effective. No-nonsense. But that doesn’t mean no personality. Mark’s collaborative, people-first mindset often disarms even the most stubborn counterparties, encouraging creative solutions and unexpected agreements. Or as one long-time client put it: “Mark, do’in work.” Not just a catchphrase—a way of life. It speaks to his energy, pragmatism, and deal-closing drive.

Mark has a reputation for understanding what motivates everyone at the table—not just his clients—and pinpointing the path to “yes” faster than most can find the conference room. He keeps one eye on the fine print, the other on the big picture, always pushing the deal forward while protecting the bottom line.

His industry experience is as wide as it is deep—spanning real estate (multifamily, industrial, office), consumer products, cannabis, media, technology, education (including charter schools), and the public sector. He also advises boards and committees on strategy, compliance, and governance with the same clear-eyed focus he brings to transactions.

Bottom line? Mark doesn’t just practice law. He builds momentum. He gets deals done. And yes—he’s do’in work.
