Buchalter Celebrates its One Year Anniversary in Atlanta; Announces Amanda Hyland as New Atlanta Office Managing Shareholder

Buchalter is pleased to celebrate its first full year in Atlanta and announce that Amanda Hyland has been named Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Atlanta Office. In addition to her new role, Hyland serves as Administrative Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Buchalter opened its Atlanta office in August 2024 with Seth Trimble at the helm, and has since expanded to 20 attorneys and professional staff. This month marks the office’s one-year anniversary, a milestone underscoring its strategic and significant growth with further expansion on the horizon.

This is Buchalter’s second location in the Southeast, following the successful launch of the Nashville office in 2023. The firm also opened its Chicago office in January of this year. Trimble will take on a more nationally focused role, providing perspective and guidance on strategic growth and other firm wide initiatives as Buchalter continues to expand its national footprint. In addition, Trimble has been named Regional Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice.

“We are incredibly grateful to Seth for his leadership and dedication to the firm, and as founding members, he, Amanda, and Coby Nixon have been integral to the success the Atlanta office has enjoyed over the past year,” said Adam Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “Seth’s ability to build and grow the office from the ground up has been remarkable, and we are fortunate to have his insight as we look at opportunities across the country. I’m confident in Amanda’s abilities to lead the office going forward, and I look forward to seeing her build upon the existing foundation, both in Georgia and across the firm.”

Trimble added, “I’m excited to be taking on a more national role within the firm. Amanda is a natural and skilled leader as well as seasoned litigator. She’s an outstanding choice to continue the strategic growth of the office.”

Hyland’s areas of focus include trademarks and copyrights enforcement and litigation, trademark clearance, and portfolio management. She provides unmatched client service and attention on intellectual property and media issues, with a commitment to delivering pragmatic, value-driven strategies. Her depth of expertise has been recognized by Chambers and Partners, World Trademark Review, and Best Lawyers in America, and she has been shortlisted as the Georgia IP Litigator of the Year several times.

“It’s a great honor to step into this leadership role,” said Hyland. “Our office is thriving because of the entrepreneurial culture Seth built, and the collaborative mindset of our attorneys and staff. Over the past year, we’ve worked to establish a strong presence in Georgia, enhance relationships with clients, and deliver exceptional results. I look forward to building on that momentum, continuing to grow our team, and collaborating with the talented lawyers and professionals across the firm to meet the evolving needs of our clients.”

As an experienced litigator, Hyland has served as counsel in more than 100 cases across the country, and dozens more in the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board. Her wins include claims regarding cybersquatting, internet advertising, trademarks as key words, color as trademark, product trade dress, trademark priority, trademark ownership, SLAPP suits, and copyright in visual art, architecture, and consumer products.

Since celebrating its first anniversary, the Atlanta office has continued to expand its capabilities with the addition of two new attorneys in 2025. Mark Carter, who joined early this year, brings a wealth of experience in construction law, representing owners, developers, contractors, and suppliers nationwide. He is well-versed in negotiating design-build, EPC, and material supply contracts, as well as successfully handling construction litigation in courts and arbitration. His deep knowledge of industry-standard forms, such as AIA and ConsensusDocs, makes him a valuable asset to clients navigating complex construction projects.

Brian Goldberg joined in March 2025 bringing extensive experience handling complex commercial and business disputes, real estate litigation, landlord/tenant disputes, creditor-rights litigation, lender-liability defense, professional liability, and premises liability litigation. He represents a wide range of clients, including publicly traded companies, national banks, mortgage servicers, property management companies, small businesses, investors, and individuals in both state and federal court. He has served as first-chair in jury trials and has significant experience litigating complex bankruptcy disputes and adversary proceedings in Georgia and other jurisdictions.

“Amanda is an exceptional choice to lead Atlanta into its next phase, and with Seth continuing to share his perspective on the firm’s broader growth, I am confident the office will continue its strong trajectory and play an even greater role in the firm’s continuing expansion,” added Bass.
