Richard Ormond has over 26 years-experience that includes bank and finance law, real estate, receivership law, banking regulations and restructuring.

His areas of expertise include advising financial institutions and lenders regarding secured transactions, lending in regulated industries, developing compliance and underwriting protocols, Treasury and FinCEN compliance (inclusive of KYC, AML and BSA) and managing of distressed loan facilities.

Mr. Ormond has tried cases in State Court, Federal Court and Bankruptcy Court and he has arbitrated dozens of matters. Mr. Ormond also served as President of the California Receivers Forum and is the former Chair of the Remedies Division of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.  Mr. Ormond also teaches Continuing Legal Education courses on lending, receivership law, regulated industries and securitization of assets.

In 2018 Mr. Ormond was nominated for the prestigious “Leader in Law” award by the Los Angeles Business Journal and he was previously selected as one of “Los Angeles’ Top 100 Lawyers.”  He is repeatedly recognized as a “Super Lawyer” and he was recently selected as one of the “Top Cannabis Law Experts in the United States” by Databird Research Journal.

Mr. Ormond is also an adjunct professor of law at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

 

Mr. Ormond earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. He also earned a Certification in International Business Law from the University of Buenos Aires/University of Belgrano in Argentina and his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
